Holly's advice includes taking one line summaries of scene and arranging them in different orders. Sometimes linear is not the best story. I did use that idea in the first book - Ridiculous but putting a funeral before the actual death. . .hehehe. now I am trying to juggle several story lines. I have a set of characters staying in Bath, a set travelling to London and a set going to Cornwall. I need to work out when to leave one set and go to another to be interesting! Hmmmm. I suppose the best choice is to look for the grey moments. When someone is in trouble leave them in it for a while and go visit relatives.
